Painting with Pixi Beauty - MatteLast Liquid Lipstick Swatches & Review
Disclaimer: all products received were sent complimentary for review. All opinions expressed are my own.
We all love a good drugstore find, and I can tell you right now I found the holy grail. Pixi Beauty recently sent over their MatteLast Liquid Lipsticks for me to try and let me tell you folks... These are by far the best matte liquid lipstick formula I've used. I swear.
I received all 11 shades of pure matte perfection, plus 4 paint pots filled with brown, yellow, white and red pigment so I could mix and match to create my own custom lipstick shade! I'm no artist by any means (note that attempt at a doodle...), but I love a good challenge!
Keep reading to see what I came up with….
They aren't the slightest bit drying, which is a HUGE DEAL because I've been left with a peeling, parched pout by other formulas. And that ain't pretty!
Because these are formulated with rosehip oil, you'll find them not only lightweight, but hydrating on the lips as well. I never thought I'd find hydration in a matte formula, but miracles do happen!
The pigmentation on these are insane. You can get full coverage in one single swipe (no need to double dip here). The teardrop shaded applicator makes it super easy to hug the lip line and get a super precise application, and has just enough flexibility for a comfortable glide. Plus they dry down to a gorgeous demi-matte (not at all flat) finish in seconds.
Out of all 11 shades, I have to say that Pastel Petal, Really Rose, Prettiest Pink & Real Red are my top 4 faves. My only qualm is that Berry Boost is a tad streaky on the first application. That said, these do layer well, so a second coat won't look clumpy or feel tacky.
Now you're probably wondering what I did with those little paint pots! I mixed shades Berry Boost & Prettiest Pink along with a bit of white pigment to create this custom shade. It's no coincidence that it matches my new hair colour, so I've lovingly named it Outrageous Orchid.
Would you wear this shade? What is your favourite colour from the collection? Let me know in the comments!
