Cool For The Summer - My Freshen Up Faves

I'm hot, sticky sweet, from my head to my feet...Mostly because of this melting popsicle. Pray the ants don't take over my deck after this shoot.

'Tis the season for your thighs to stick to plastic chairs. Not the most wonderful time of the year, if you ask me. If you're looking ways to beat the heat & keep your summer OOTD looking fresh, keep reading!

Summer is great until you remember that 30 degree weather and extreme humidity are things that tend to happen. With the heat also comes sweat stains, thigh chafe and unfortunate poodle hair. Basically I'm the epitome of beauty come mid-June.

These unfortunate side-effects of summer are something no one likes to talk about. Except my one former co-worker who charmingly renamed her boob sweat, 'Mountain Dew'. I've never looked at the neon green soda the same way since, so I apologize if that was your beverage of choice.

Anyway, I've found a trio of beauty products to help beat the heat. Here's to feeling fresh (and so clean, clean) all summer long, and being free to whatever you damn well please. Seriously, it's too hot out to listen to anyone's unsolicited opinions regarding your outfit. You do you.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater- $11 CAD for 4oz or $16 CAD for 8oz

This cult classic from Mario Badescu has earned a permanent spot on my vanity. This gorgeously hydrating blend of rosewater, aloe and thyme helps to freshen up your face without disrupting any of your makeup. It has a super fine mist that covers the entire face in just one pump (though I tend to get a little trigger happy and practically take a shower with this stuff).

I even like to spritz this after applying my daily moisturizer, just to give my skin a little extra glow. And yes, I have 'Water Me' by Lizzo playing on full volume while I use this. Why do you ask?

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk- $7.49 CAD for 50mL or $15.49 CAD for 150mL

Who would have guessed that my oat milk obsession would expand beyond my morning coffee?

If you've been following my blog for a while, you know I've been loyal to my Cake Beauty Do Gooder Dry Shampoo for what feels like a lifetime. And while I still love it to the last spritz, this one from Klorane is just as great.

I try to wash my hair as minimally as possible to prolong the life of my colour, but I'm also a sweaty Betty lately. Where Cake's version gives me volume and sweet smelling locks, this one gives my hair that squeaky clean sensation I so sorely need in the summer. And thanks to that addition of oat milk, this doesn't dry my hair out or leave it looking dusty! Just don't ask me when I actually washed my hair last. That's not important.

Lush Cosmetics Silky Underwear Dusting Powder - $10.95 CAD

I like to joke that my thighs touch because they love each other. Though lately they've been loving each other a bit too much for my liking. I'm talking about the dreaded 'chub-rub'; when sweat and friction causes painful chafing on the inner thighs. I know many resort to wearing bike shorts or swiping deodorant on down there, but I've found something much better (and less sticky)

Lush never fails to blow my mind with their innovative products, and this is no exception. Seriously forget everything you know about baby powder, because this stuff will change your life. This powder not only helps to keep things fresh and dry, it's also moisturizing.

Yes, you read that right. This powder is packed with cocoa butter so it literally melts into the skin. Plus the gentle scent of jasmine gives it that oh-so-fresh feeling. I like to sprinkle this where sweat tends to accumulate, like under the band of my bra & on my inner thighs. Give this a try and leave the bike shorts to the Kardashians and the Tour de France.
